Mount Currie Nature Reserve
A most attractive small reserve, with old cattle tracks and paths creating many delightful walks and climbs for the hiker and keen naturalist interested in the flora, bird life (over 220 species) and game viewing. Within the reserve there is an interesting laager site, a cemetery and a national monument in memory of Adam Kok III, the Griqua leader, after whom Kokstad was named. It also has a Boy Scout Memorial.

Mount Currie also recently acquired Zebra which are breeding successfully.

Found near Kokstad, the reserve is 189km from Pietermaritzburg, using the Richmond-Umzimkhulu Road, and 250km from Durban using the South Coast Main Road, turning off at Port Shepstone for Harding- Kokstad. The turn-off to the reserve is 200m outside Kokstad on the Franklin-Swartberg Road. A gravel road leads to the main gate, which is 4,5km from the turn-off.

Self-catering and camp site accommodation is available.
