Kokstad Museum
The Kokstad Museum is a national monument. It is also known as the East Griqualand Museum and it focuses on the Griqua people.

Bandstand
The ornamental, cast iron bandstand dates from 1912. It was donated to the town council by the engineers who were responsible for the Kokstad water scheme. It was declared a national monument in October 1983.
It is situated alongside the town hall and library on Main Street in Kokstad.

Catholic Cathedral (Kokstad)
The Cathedral is an imposing building with tall twin steeples, located in Hope Street, Kokstad. Contact the information office for a map.

Dutch Reformed Church, Kokstad
The Dutch Reformed Congregation was established on 31st March 1923. As there was no church building, they made use of various other churches and hall at first for worship. Mr. S.J. Halford, the Mayor of Kokstad, built the church. It is located on the corner of Hope and Wilde Street, Kokstad. Contact the information office for a map.

Adam Kok's Monument
The monument commemorates the leadership of the Griqua, Adam Kok, who, after leading the Griquas from the Southern Free State to Griqualand East during the 1860's, died after a fall off a cart in 1875. The monument is situated next to the Hope Street police station of Kokstad.

Cape Mounted Rifles Monument, Kokstad
The monument to the Cape Mounted Rifles is a tall column surrounded by four lions peering upwards. It is situated close to the town hall in front of the library on Main Street in Kokstad.

Adam Kok's Laager
In 1861, 2000 Griquas under Adam Kok migrated to the area from the Southern Free State. They lived in a laager in this vicinity for about ten years before moving to Kokstad itself. They also took possession of a large number of farms which had been laid out for them. The site of their laager is marked by a monument which is situated in the foothills of Mount Currie.
In the foothills of Mount Currie, 5kms north of Kokstad in the Mount Currie Nature Reserve. Travel over farm roads.

Boy Scouts Monument, Kokstad
The monument to former boys scouts who fell in the world wars is situated in the foothills of Mount Currie north of Kokstad. About 6 kilometres north of Kokstad, in Mount Currie Nature Reserve.

Matatiele

War Memorial, Matatiele
The gun is a memorial to soldiers of the district who fell during World Wars 1 and 11. In the grounds of the Matatiele Town Hall.

Matatiele Museum
Exhibits depict the local prehistory, history and cultures of the town and district from the stone age to the present day. Originally the building was a Dutch Reformed Church. It is made of sandstone, and is a national monument.
